Ted Davis’s recent retirement as Bird Observer’s cover art editor—after holding the position for 32 years—marks the end of an era for our journal. I am pleased to introduce Lily Morello as the journal’s new—and second—cover art editor.
Lily is an excellent and serious birder. She makes meticulous observations in her eBird reports. With her curiosity and love of birds, I am that sure that readers will enjoy Lily’s perspective on the bird species’ accounts.
And now, here is Lily to introduce herself:
I am from Massachusetts, and I am currently pursuing an Environmental Science degree at Southern New Hampshire University. I am interested in art and ornithology and I have been birding for more than seven years. I have always been interested in nature, but my focus shifted more towards birds when I began using eBird in 2016. That year, I observed a juvenile Snow Goose and have been hooked on birding ever since. My specific interests within ornithology include hybridization and island speciation. I am also interested in helping to make birding a more inclusive and accessible hobby for everyone. I am always excited to go birding and explore new places in and outside of Massachusetts and am thrilled to be joining Bird Observer as the new cover art editor.
