Weather

Boston set a new high temperature of 82 degrees on November 6, and Worcester reached a new high temperature of 77 degrees the same day. The reading in Boston was the latest date of the year the city has ever hit or surpassed the 80-degree mark. Weather forecasters warned that these high temperatures combined with the prolonged period of dry weather could result in possible wildfires. Boston experienced its first freeze date on November 13. For the month, the average temperature was 49 degrees in Boston. Rainfall totaled 3.36 inches, slightly under the normal for the month but much more than the previous two months combined. Thanksgiving Day saw heavy rain in many areas. Boston recorded nearly an inch of rain, and some snow fell in Berkshire County and higher elevations in Worcester County.
