Very dry conditions continued in Boston through September. Measurable precipitation occurred on eight days totaling a mere 1.33 inches. The first measurable rain for the month occurred on September 18, a stretch of 27 days since the last rainfall on August 21. Starting September 18, light rain and fog persisted in most of the state for a week. The exception was southeastern Massachusetts, where more significant rain occurred.
